What is Speed@Seawork?

Speed@Seawork

Speed@Seawork 2019 took place on Monday 10 and Tuesday 11 June. Mercator Media, the organisers of Europe’s leading commercial marine exhibition, Seawork, introduced the inaugural Speed@Seawork in 2018 as the latest sector-specific feature for Seawork.

Fast vessels operating at high speed for security interventions and Search And Rescue are a significant specialist sector of the commercial marine business. Speed@Seawork is aimed squarely at facilitating growth and development for the design, build and operation of these specialist vessels.  As operating demands increase, new solutions for propulsion, navigation, communications and care of the crew will be needed.

Speed@Seawork turns the spotlight on the sector, offering knowledge sharing, networking, exhibiting, sponsorship and demonstrating opportunities.

Sea Trials day took place on Monday June 10  and were based in and around Cowes Yacht Haven on the Isle of Wight, UK.

The Haven is centrally located in Cowes, - a short walk from Cowes town centre and the Parade, with its iconic maritime institutions, including the historic Royal Yacht Squadron.

Delegates started Day 1 of Speed@Seawork afloat with a networking welcome breakfast, sponsored by OSI Maritime Systems, onboard the Ocean Scene with an opening presentation from Alistair Hughes, Team Leader within UK MoD. On arrival at the Cowes Yacht Haven delegates headed to the Haven Events Centre. This purpose-built, state-of-the-art venue was the operations centre for the sea trials and host the conference lunch, sponsored by BAE Systems, and presentations throughout the day.

Speed@Seawork exhibitors had the chance to display and discuss their products throughout the day.  The Haven’s impressive marina offered quick access for delegates to the range of demonstration vessels, heading out into the challenging waters of The Solent.

Day 1 finished with networking drinks and canapes, sponsored by Ocean Safety, before delegates headed to the Red Jet terminal for return travel by fast ferry to Southampton

Day 2 Tuesday 11 June saw the Speed@Seawork conference take place at Seawork itself. The half-day format saw key industry presentations at the Seawork exhibition conference centre interspersed with networking and the opportunity to visit Seawork exhibitors.
