USV Conference to welcome return speaker
Dr Katrina Kemp is to make a welcome return to Seawork. The Smart Ships & Automation Policy Officer for the MCA will be speaking at the USV Conference, the first of two Seawork Commercial Marine Conferences for 2020.
Dr Kemp took up the role of Smart Shipping & Automation Policy Officer at the MCA in January 2018 with a focus on facilitating the MCA’s regulatory response to autonomous shipping. She represents the UK at the IMO’s Maritime Autonomous Surface Ships working group and is working closely with industry as part of the international regulatory scoping exercise.
Joint-lead of the Maritime Autonomy Regulation Lab (MARLab), Dr Kemp was a speaker at the 2019 edition of the USV Conference where delegates were provided with detailed insight into how autonomous USVs are being used and benefiting the Commercial Marine sector.
