Well-earned retirement

Founder and Director of Hydrosphere has announced his retirement

Seawork exhibitor Andy Reid has been at the helm of Hydrosphere for twenty four years. The company is the UK and Ireland’s leading supplier of aids to navigation.

A former merchant navy officer Andy has been involved in the sea since the age of 17. He started Hydrosphere Systems and Services in 1993. As with all entrepreneurs he has known good and challenging times. He quotes the high points as winning the tender to the UK Met Office to start replacing all of their Ocean Data Acquisition System (ODAS) buoys and the contract to supply the navigation buoys for the Gabbard Offshore Wind Farm, a real coup and Hydrosphere’s biggest contract to date.

Andy is staying on as a board director and is keen to stay in touch with all the people he has worked with over the years. He says, “I’m grateful for all the support I’ve had from hundreds of customers and people I’ve worked with – and the messages from retirement well-wishers.”

Andy plans to travel to the Far East and spend some time in Vietnam, Thailand, and Malaysia
