Handover of Suzuki powered Ribcraft
Ribcraft officially handed over a new Suzuki powered RIB to Northumberland Inshore Fisheries & Conservation Authority on Seawork’s packed pontoons.
The vessel will be mainly used for enforcement and inshore fisheries, with the Authority requiring a surveillance craft that was smaller and more economical.
Dorian Martin, Project Manager for Ribcraft described the vessel that will soon be making its way further up Britain for a critical role in the fisheries and conservation sector.: “The RIB is 9.5m with heating, making it an all-season vessel. There’s a cabin with a toilet on board, which is required for the growing number of female officers and to enable crews to stay out longer at sea.
The cabin has two suspension seats with a third that is removable, giving the cabin a flexible combination depending on the tasks. There is 4Gg Wi-Fi on board so it is all set up for interception and interrogation use. Crews can now more accurately monitor vessel data, with a new type of system which boosts reception.
There are two Suzuki engines on board giving the RIB a 300 nautical mile range with efficient quieter engines. This means the Authority can use them all day, every day without any noise or vibration interference.”
The RIB was named Robert Arckless MBE after the Northumberland Inshore Fisheries & Conservation Authority former Chairman.
Final stage of ownership, after Seaworks, will see the RIB taken to the owner’s own port for further training and familiarisation before it starts its new life in the next couple of weeks.
