Valuable contracts announced at Seawork
Every year, Seawork is home to a plethora of valuable contracts announcements, often created between fellow exhibitors and attendees.
Below are some of the highlights:
Greater Gabbard Offshore Winds Ltd (GGOWL), a joint venture between SSE and Innogy, has awarded class-leading offshore energy support vessel (OESV) operator, For the coming years, Seacat Services has been hired to provide logistical support, encompassing high-speed transfer of technicians and critical equipment to the wind farm from the O&M base at the Port of Lowestoft.
PSP, the specialist maritime logistics provider based in Hampshire, UK, has been a regular exhibitor at Seawork for many years.
Frank Dixie, UK, MD, couldn’t complement Seawork 2017 highly enough on the opening day, “It’s the first time ever that we’ve got work straight away from exhibiting at Seawork. We’ve closed two orders within the first two hours of opening – absolutely brilliant!”
UK based Kort Propulsion, established in 1935 is pleased to announce this week that they have signed a new contract with Shipbuilding Asia UK.
The new contract, is for a 90ft Fishing Trawler, delivering a Yanmar 6EY17W – rated at 749KW@1350RPM with Reintjes Gearboxes. Kort will be suppling full Propulsion Package of Shafting, Propeller, Kort Nozzle, KT250 Tunnel Thruster, and steering System from Wills Ridley. The vessel is scheduled to go into operation by April 2018.
PME Group & MAN
Engines manufacturer, MAN, has announced a new strategy for its marine engine sales in the UK, appointing PME Group (PB13) as sole importer for MAN Engines and component in the UK and Ireland. Andrew Mallard, General Manager, Engine and Components UK, for MAN comments, “We’ve chosen Seawork to announce our news as it’s the mainstay of the business and the only true commercial show in the UK and we thought it was the perfect showcase to announce a major change in our business.
Sponsor of the Innovations Showcase and Seawork exhibitor, Lloyds Register, has launched the LR Unmanned Marine Systems (UMS) Code, being a goal-based code that takes a structured approach to the assessment of unmanned marine systems.
Anderson Chaplow, LR Lead Specialist, Naval, will be hosting a seminar session regarding the UMS in the Upper Deck of the Conference Vessel at 13:00.
Landau UK has chosen Seawork 2017 to launch into the UK the Seabob Rescue, the Scubajet and is showcasing its recently launched marine specific bike and locker hire system.
With the ability to carry 10 people and submerge up to 40 metres the new Seabob Rescue is a cutting-edge product designed to save lives and rescue people where every second counts. Low in weight, the Seabob Rescue can be easily carried by one person, adding to its overall practicality and efficiency. CEO of Landau UK, Ben Metcalfe explained: ‘Seawork is the perfect platform to launch any commercial product. We visit around 14 or 15 shows but Seawork offers the strongest networking opportunities.”
Headquartered in Manchester, UK, Tenmat has manufactured and supplied bearings for shaftline assemblies, steering gear, rudders and deck equipment, for over 100 years, predominatly to over 35 navies worldwide. At Seawork 2017, Tenmat is launching its new tested material, namely RAILKO NF SternLife, which provides two-three times more wear and performance at the same price as rubber cutlass bearings.
The new ultra-lightweight Deckvest DURO has been developed in response to increasing professional demand from commercial marine users, as more sectors of industry require their staff to wear lifejackets or have lifejackets available for their PPE regulations and assessments. The Pro-Tech is a heavy-duty polyester coated cover for Spinlock lifejackets and provides a resistant barrier for industries where contaminants can quickly cause damage.
