National Workboat Association
Formed in 1994, the National Workboat Association, the trade, skills and safety standards association for the workboat industry now with a membership over 90, continues to drive the creation of industry safety, technical and best practice standards, working with the MCA to revise and update the Workboat Code and establishing the Voluntary Towage Endorsement scheme. We liaise with other industry stakeholders providing a voice for workboat operators. Our regular Safety Forums provide a platform for operators to share lessons learned to maintain high standards within the industry. The NWA is a key driver of industry-recognised training schemes, including the Small Vessel Engineer, the Trailblazer Workboat Crewmember Apprenticeship and Scottish Workboat Apprenticeship which offer opportunities to young people interested in a maritime career.
