Successful Commercial Marine Conference

USVs and Hybrid Propulsion were the focus of this year's Seawork Commercial Marine Conference

Delegates from the US, India, New Zealand and the UK attend the Seawork Commercial Marine Conference held at Seawork 2018. The conference focused on USVs and Hybrid Propulsion, allowing delegates to ask the challenging questions that will help them make an actual difference to their business.

Speakers at the USV conference covered the whole lifecycle from build to operation; government policy to liability risks and insurance solutions. Evidence from real-life projects was shared prior to publication elsewhere, a real coup for the audience. Concerns about this industry were aired and many put to rest by the high-level presenters on hand.

The Hybrid Propulsion conference gave delegates real insight into operating vessels and evoked in-depth debate on the future of fully electric vessels.Total costs and implications were candidly discussed by presenters with honest views on whether businesses could really afford to commit. The overall message was that hybrid is no longer a concept, it is a reality.

"The marine sustainability revolution has begun. It's time to get aboard” said Ulf Kanne, Senior Product Manager for High Power Systems at Torqeedo GmbH.

Following on from the conferences a number of the speakers commented that delegates had already visited their stands to talk in more detail about their presentations, some of which could turn into real business opportunities in the future. This provided further evidence of the desire of the Seawork audience to have significant and topical issues up for debate that will help them with future plans for their business.
