For the fourth year running, Whiteley-based Matchtech (wwww.matchtech.com), the UK’s leading supplier of staff to the marine and shipping industries attended Seawork in 2012.

The exhibition provided ample opportunity to promote its recruitment services across the entire product lifecycle, from concept to manufacture, repair and maintenance, as well as sea-going personnel.

Kerry Walton, Matchtech Brand Manager, comments: “It was great meeting current and prospective clients, as well as supporting the British Marine Federation. We ran our usual £250 Red Letter Day competition, won by Mark Russell of CJR Propulsion. This year we entertained our attendees and exhibitors alike with our popcorn stand; a roaring success despite the heat! We look forward to returning next year – bringing with us another Red Letter Day competition and maybe even a new flavour of popcorn!”

This year’s Seawork event also marked the launch of Matchtech Engineering Services, an innovative approach to consultancy, which received very positive responses for the flexibility of location, commercial terms and tailored recruitment style.

Shortly after the exhibition, Matchtech itself had reason to celebrate as one of its Hampshire recruitment managers – and regular Seawork visitor, Natalie Desty, was announced as one of the “Make it in Great Britain 30 Under 30” by Business Minister Mark Prisk. She will become an ambassador for the ‘Make it in Great Britain’ campaign, which aims to challenge outdated opinions and transform the image of modern manufacturing. The campaign is the subject of an exhibition at the Science Museum (24 July – 9 September).

Mark Prisk commented: “We need more talented, enthusiastic young people to fill roles in modern manufacturing, design and production. We hope that the ’30 under 30’ will inspire the next generation to consider a career in manufacturing.”
