SMG brings a host of new products to Seawork 2018
SMG, the UK’s leading marine electronics distributor, once again exhibited at Seawork 2018 and brought along a host of new innovative products to showcase.
NEW FOR 2018 IN THE INNOVATIONS SHOWCASE AT SEAWORK - The G8 AIS EPIRB from McMurdo. The world’s first EPIRB with four search and rescue frequencies and includes localised tracking for recovery and activation awareness offered by AIS. It works on three GNSS sources (Galileo, GPS, Glonas) increasing the speed and accuracy of location detection. Featuring false activation prevention including SmartSwitch which prevents accidental pressing and the SmartTransfer carry bracket to ensure the unit’s water activation switch doesn’t activate accidently. It also has a ten-year battery, multiple self-tests and easy service design, and includes a 360-strobe light and hands-free carry strap.
NEW – PREVIEW AT SEAWORK - The SPOT X from Globalstar will be available to view before it’s official launch in August. The Spot X provides 2-way satellite messaging so you can stay connected to family, friends and colleagues whenever you are outside of mobile range including direct communication with Search and Rescue services in case of a life-threatening emergency. The perfect solution for grab bag communications, lone worker applications and tracking in extreme situations.
NEW - LAUNCHED AT SEAWORK - Oxford MARINEPROOF range – SMG have been appointed as Oxford’s exclusive distributor for the marine sector and over the last 12 months SMG and Oxford have been working together to develop new products with marine proof specifications. The first of these products are now available; Oxford MARINEPROOF Dry Bag waterproof luggage range and the Oxford MARINEPROOF Padlock range.
NEW – LAUNCHED AT SEAWORK - Scangrip supplying market leading professional LED Waterproof work lights and torches to the trade, are showcasing the all new NIGHTVIEW headlamp providing both white and red light for night vision. It features a sensor to turn the headlamp on and off with just a wave of your hand rather than fiddling for buttons.
NEW FOR 2018 - Solar Technology, a new brand for SMG in 2018, is an award winning, UK based company at the forefront of solar engineering and innovation. The Solar Panels use crystalline silicon technology which is more efficient than amorphous or thin film solutions, particularly in lower light conditions found in the UK. The range of panels extends from 5 through to 150 watts in power and the panels come with a 20 year performance warranty.
NEW IN THE INNOVATIONS SHOWCASE AT SEAWORK – Toughphone Beast has the highest IP69 rating.
