Industry success for Survitec’s Lifejacket

David Duffin, Sales Director, Survitec is presented with the Innovations Showcase category award by Jake Frith, Editor, Maritime Journal

Survitec’s Crewsaver Rope Access 3D 275N lifejacket has proved popular with a variety of audiences since its launch, with one of the world’s largest cruise operators among the admirers of the innovative garment.

Winning the Innovations Showcase category award at Seawork International 2017 in Southampton in June brought the ergonomic 3D lifejacket greater attention, with more than 7,000 visitors present at the event.

Since scooping the prize in the safety and training category, Survitec has received an order from a large cruise company to equip all its crew with the jacket, a genuine seal of approval from one of the market leaders.

It is also in discussions with a UK government department that wishes to place a significant order.

The ergonomic 3D lifejacket was designed closely with wind energy operators to create a garment that not only meets the demands of those working at height, but also offers the ultimate in comfort and in-water performance.

Nigel Parkes, Survitec Design Manager, said, “Winning the Seawork award was pleasing recognition from within the industry that the 3D jacket is a genuinely innovative product that betters what we’ve seen before. But the true vindication for us has been the customer feedback we have received since launching it on the market. Key partners from different sectors, including cruise operators and the government, are convinced by the jacket’s capabilities and that it represents a step change from what was previously available.”

The sculpted garment embraces the shape of the wearer and also includes a unique back-strap arrangement to facilitate the integration of any fall arrest harness, foam-padded cover for impact protection and soft-activation tabs to prevent snagging which can lead to accidental inflation.
