Austal appoints new Asia service manager
Mr Michael Little, Austal’s regional service manager for Asia
Australian boatbuilder Austal has appointed a new regional service manager for the Asia Pacific region – part of the company’s strategy to develop new business in the region and better serve one of its major clients, the US Navy.
Mr Michael Little will be based in Singapore and be responsible for Austal’s service offering in Singapore, Hong Kong and the Philippines and for developing broader relationships across the region.
His addition follows Austal’s recent acquisition of Darwin based Hydraulink NT and KM Engineering, reiterating the company’s commitment to supporting US Navy operations in the Asia Pacific, where Austal expects many of its mobile built Littoral Combat Ships (LCS) and Joint High Speed Vessels (JHSV) to operate.
Austal’s Chief Operating Officer – Service and Systems, Charles McGill, commented: "We are thrilled with Mike’s decision to join the Austal team. He brings direct and credible experience in the region, which is of growing significance to Austal and our core client, the US Navy. Mike’s command experience brings an added dimension to Austal’s capability, which we value tremendously.”
Mr Little joins Austal from SES Marine Services, a subsidiary of Sembawang Shipyard and he also has a background of 20 years in the US Navy.
