Marine engine supplier E. P. Barrus returns to its familiar quayside location for Seawork 2009 with a display which includes the F44 engine, a trial multi-fuel 50hp outboard designed and developed for the UK Ministry of Defence (MOD) capable of running on four NATO fuels, including NATO F34 AVTUR (JP8), NATO F44 AVCAT (JP5), NATO F67 (Gasoline – unleaded) and NATO F76 (Diesel – Naval).
This engine has been modified by E. P. Barrus Ltd under licence from the MOD.
A diesel powered saltwater pump will be on show, which is an integral part of the RNLI all weather lifeboat fleet. Powered by Yanmar, the pump has a maximum flow of 175GPM and weighs just 37kg.
Utilised by the HM Coastguard search and rescue helicopters is a 2” trash pump designed with a lightweight, air portable frame that can be used for salvage, fire fighting and general pumping. The pump weighs just 48kg and has a maximum flow of 170 GPM.

Barrus Ltd is a dedicated team set up to design and develop custom built engines and accessories to meet the specific operational requirements of its professional customers. The team has the experience and knowledge to solve the stringent requirements and applications of specialist organisations including professional rescue services, the military and other government and commercial organisations.
Also on show will be a representative range of Shire workboat engines and John Deere engines from 50hp to 610hp plus Yanmar marine diesel engines from 10hp to 480hp. A selection of Mariner and Mercury 4-stroke outboard engines from 2.5hp to 300hp and OptiMax engines from 75hp to 225hp will also be on display.
The Barrus demonstration fleet featuring a number of engine applications will be on the Seawork floating pontoon directly opposite the main Barrus stand on the quayside.
