Port of London Authority showcase Lambeth

The Port of London Authority will be entering its newest Patrol Launch / Pilot Boat: LAMBETH to Seawork and entering the vessel design and build into the Innovations Showcase.

The boat is an innovative design, initiated by the Port of London Authority, which provides exceptional stability and seakeeping from a low-displacement, low-wash hull.

The benefits are substantially reduced fuel consumption and exhaust emissions, as this vessel requires only 2/5ths the power to achieve the same speed in a conventional monohull patrol/pilotage vessel of the same physical size.

LAMBETH's principal dimensions are:

Length Overall: 13.5m
Beam: 4.8m
Displacement: 11.0 tonnes.

The boat was designed and built by Alnmaritec Limited, of Northumberland UK, to the PLA's concept drawing, with hydrodynamics optimised by the University of Newcastle and hull strength optimisation carried out by Amgram Limited. The propulsion machinery and auxiliary systems have been designed for optimum performance & reliability and provide for all known primary sources of defects to be designed out.

The John Deere 6068TFM keel-cooled engines, engineered and supplied by E P Barrus Limited, provide 200 HP, via Twin Disc Gearboxes with electronic controls sourced through MIT Limited. Novel oil-lubricated stern shafts, identified at last year's Seawork exhibition, have been provided by H4 Marine Limited and propellers and keel coolers have been supplied, to the PLA's requirements and Newcastle University's design, by Kort Propulsion Limited.
