Southampton MP To Open Seawork Exhibition
09 May 2008
On Tuesday 10 June, the Right Honourable John Denham MP, who represents Southampton Itchen, will officially open the 11th Seawork International Exhibition and Conference.
Some 7,000 members of the commercial marine industry will visit over the three days of the show to see products and vessels from around the world presented by the 450 exhibitors.
The star of the pontoon attraction, among some 70 working vessels, will be HMS Blazer, a 56 foot Fast Patrol Boat attached to the Universities of Southampton and Sussex to provide students with onboard experience of life at sea.
John Denham’s visit is all the more pertinent as he has responsibilities for Innovation, Universities and Skills – all of which are significant in the commercial marine environment.
It is expected that a visit to Seawork’s Innovations Showcase feature will be included in his tour of the exhibition.
John Denham will later join the exhibition management team, led by Jane Wilson, and 500 exhibitors and their guests, for dinner at the St Mary’s Stadium.
