Established in 1976, Fugro Seacore is a specialist marine drilling contractor operating at the top of an industry where skill and experience count for everything.
It was through their undoubted expertise in the field that the company recently successfully completed the installation of a marine turbine at Strangford Lough.
A large, two-phase drilling and fixing job, the first phase involved installation of mooring piles in currents of seven knots.
The second phase involved fixing the turbine device to the seabed by means of drilling 1150mm diameter rock sockets 7.4m deep into the bedrock, which was overlain with large cobbles and boulders.
