The Society of Maritime Industries is the voice of the UK's maritime business sector promoting and supporting companies which build, refit and modernise ships, and supply equipment and services for all types of commercial and naval platforms, ports and terminals infrastructure and maritime security, offshore oil & gas, and marine science and technology. Our vision is to be the trade association of choice for UK companies engaged in the maritime industries.

Companies in the Society's membership have world-class capabilities enabling them to compete in global markets. Many companies enjoy the technological synergies which come from links with the aerospace and electronics industries thereby ensuring innovative solutions are available to the sector's customers to meet the evermore stringent environmental and safety regime in which modern industry operates.

SSA is a member based trade association, with members engaged in shipbuilding, ship conversion, ship repair and maintenance, and providing products and services to the marine industry. It has been in existence in its current form since 1989 and is the voice of the shipyard industry to UK Government departments, the European shipbuilding community, and national and regional agencies, providing support across a broad range of business issues.

The DMA is also responsible for the EEZ Industry Group (EEZING), working in partnership with the Government, to promote UK companies in the growing sector of maritime security and EEZ management and control activities worldwide. Nationally the British Fluid Power Association represents some 200 companies involved in the Hydraulic and Pneumatic industry, both of which have a strong presence in the Marine sector. The BFPA is very pleased to be working with the Seawork team to provide for the first time a dedicated Fluid Power Pavilion, a benefit to both visitor and exhibitor. The British Fluid Power Association was founded in 1959 and is a full service operation providing many market Statistics to members, Technical support such as Directive interpretation, and Engineering standards. The Association is an external secretariat for BSI and is also involved with various ISO standards. The Seawork Pavilion is yet another example of exhibition work both in the UK and overseas.

The BCBA represents Britain’s commercial marine industry companies who are members of the British Marine Federation. The BCBA’s knowledge and experience in the commercial marine industry assists the BMF in presenting its members’ interests at the highest level in the UK and overseas. The Association provides members with up to date information on technical, legal and EU/UK legislation, covering the construction, safety and operation of workboats up to 50m.

CBOA represents every type of commercial freight operator on the UK Inland Waterways network. Its members range from self-employed operators on the narrow canals, through maintenance contractors and freight barge operators on the larger waterways to large companies with international connections. All these share the Association’s aim, which is the furtherance and development of freight traffic on the Inland Waterway system. In furtherance of its aims the Association negotiates with navigation authorities and regularly lobbies Parliament and Government Departments, national and local. Membership is open to all waterway operators. Any members of the public who support the Association’s aim may become Associates.

The IHMA represents the interests of harbour masters and port captains in almost 80 nations worldwide, with membership now extending throughout western and Eastern Europe, Australasia, Africa, the Americas, Middle East, Far East and Asia. Membership consists of individuals drawn from ports large and small, publicly and privately owned, and offers a resource of substantial experience and expertise in the port and harbour sector. The IHMA has recently been accorded Consultative NGO status at the International Maritime Organisation and also takes part as a competent partner in a number of influential industry policy-making forums. MEEMA was formed in 1963, to support, protect and represent all interests and business aspects of the Marine Engine and Equipment segment within the British Marine Industry. The group of approximately 100 BMF members is responsible for a current, annual, economic value approaching £250 million. This industry sector includes engines, gearboxes, stern gear and all ancillaries and encompasses manufacturers, importers, distributors and retail ensuring that a broad, measured and cohesive overview can be studied from initial design through to final customer delivery.

Lloyd’s Maritime Intelligence Unit in partnership with the UK Met Office brings a new Forecasting and Risk Assessment capability to the World’s Port Community.
This unique collaboration combines the International expertise and heritage of both of our organisations.
Under the working title of weatherPILOT, we will deliver an integrated information capability that combines vessel movements and logistics through Lloyd’s Marine Intelligence Unit SeaSearcher TM with the addition of appropriate Met Office ‘gold standard’ global weather, environment and climate information.  By bringing together Port Management experience and tailored local weather forecasts for key Ports around the Globe including ancillary information such as relevant environmental and climatological data, we will help you plan, risk assess and manage your port facilities.
In addition to the support of day to day decision making, this service will also strengthen casualty reporting and contingency planning within your Port and its approaches and in time will evolve to offer chartered features.

The Association was formed 10 years ago to enable owners to have a united and collective input into the Codes of Practice for Workboats and Pilot Boats. Since its inception the Association now under the chairmanship of Capt. Mark Mead, has made a positive and constructive contribution to the Codes of Practice. Currently the Association has 40 members with 210 boats. Members have access to free advice through the Secretary on either the Codes of Practice or the operation and maintenance of vessels. Initial free advice on legal matters is also available. Further information is available from the Secretary.

MOB Guardian is a 21st century aid to the challenge of helping keep fishermen safer whilst at sea. Regular reports are sent to the RNLI giving their position and course and if missed an alert is raised. Crew members benefit by wearing a PSD (Personal Safety Device) that alerts automatically to the RNLI and HM Coastguard in the event of Man Overboard.

The U.K.P.A. was founded in Bristol by Capt. George Cawley in 1884. Pilots from 18 Districts attended its Inaugural Conference, with observers from Spain, Denmark and the U.S.A. Its objective was to influence the development of Pilotage and Associated Regulations, including Acts of Parliament, and to help those members around the country who found themselves in difficulty (but it was not a Friendly Society as such).

The Hydrographic Society UK is organising and hosting the 16th European Hydro Conference – Hydro8 – in Liverpool in November 2008.

The Hydrographic Society UK has appointed 'The Conference Business' (CB) as the Event Administrator of Hydro8. CB will be responsible for event logistics including delegate registrations, and the sales and management of the sponsorship and exhibition space. CB organises and manages conferences and exhibitions, on behalf of associations and agencies and it was the Event Manager for the Shallow Survey 2005 Conference held in Plymouth, UK.
