Fairguide / Expo Guide / Euro Business Guide SCAM!

Euro Business Guide / EU Business Directory / Expo Guide

BEWARE THE EXPO GUIDE

If you have received a fax or email from the EXPO GUIDE – do not sign it.

This company, which used to trade as the FAIR GUIDE, are unscrupulous and are not connected with Seawork in any way.

ON NO ACCOUNT SIGN OR FAX BACK THE FORM!

The letter implies that they are acting on our behalf - at the top it reads

'Current entry: SEAWORK, Southampton'.

You are then asked to update your listing in the 'exhibitors directory', correcting any errors. They tell you when they receive the corrections, your free listing will be activated - then they hit you with an invoice for €970 a year for 3 years, which they chase relentlessly.

The fax is signed Alejandro Esteban (project manager). If you have already inadvertently signed the form, contact the AEO (Association of Exhibition Organisers) for advice. Their website is www.aeo.org.

Be comforted by the fact that the expo guide have never succeeded in any of their attempts to extricate money from companies in this manner.

The UK Association of Exhibition Organisers (aeo) has strongly condemned the actions of the Spanish and Mexico based Euro Business Guide with their misleading services to exhibitors. The aeo advises that:

  • EBG has never carried out their threat of legal action against non-payers.
  • If exhibitors who have inadvertently signed up feel the need to respond to the debt chasing, they should inform the EBG that they have been advised not to pay by the UK Association of Exhibition Organisers and write to inform your local Member of European Parliament as they are also very aware of this matter and can offer some support.
  • Contact the Consumer Protection Directorate in Valencia, Spain and ask for your contract to be cancelled.
  • Contact details are at http://www.stopecg.org/.
  • Write to Simon Busuttil, Rapporteur to the European City Guide and other directory scams report, Altiero Spinelli, 09E210, 60 rue Wiertz, B-1047, Brussels If the EBG or their debt collection companies continue to harass you, tell them that you are considering legal action against them under European directives on misleading advertising.

Further information and advice is available on the aeo website www.aeo.org.uk.
