The Maritime Training and Careers Trail in association with Solent Skill Quest and Portsmouth & East Hants Education Business Partnership.
Seawork 2009 reinvented the Maritime Training & Careers Pavilion and brought in local school children to see what types of jobs are available in the Commercial Marine industry.
They had a fun day out which gave them the opportunity to look around the pavilion and talk to recruitment and training organisations about the different careers that are available to them. This year, we will again be working with Solent Skill Quest and the Portsmouth & East Hampshire Education Business Partnership who are liaising with The University of Southampton, The National Oceanagraphic Centre, City College, Eastleigh College and other local colleges and schools, with regard to bringing groups of students/graduates back to Seawork.
The format will be slightly different to this year with the Maritime Training & Careers Trail rather than the pavilion. This will give the small groups of children a route around the exhibition, stopping at the different stands that are dotted around the show. We will once again be running seminars and workshops in the conference rooms on the Thursday for the young people to attend. They will also have hands on experience as to what life is like aboard a real life Naval vessel by getting an opportunity to go aboard HMS Blazer among other vehicles and have a trip around the solent. We will once again include a Jobs Board within the exhibition. This will be used to advertise job vacancies exhibitors have. It is a great opportunity for employers, as there will be post graduates and students at Seawork looking to find work! To coincide with this, we are in the process of creating a Jobs page on our website, keep checking the website for more details.
If you as an exhibitor have any jobs that you would like to see on the Jobsboard and jobs page, simply send in a description to freeve@seawork.com.
