After show news

Economical Powercat doesn't make waves!

The very first Powercat 695, launched at Seawork, will be getting out on the water in the few weeks - and already the boat has a number of people waiting to get aboard for sea trials and demonstrations.

The interest was stirred up at the show partly because fuel economy and green concerns are now a particularly hot agenda: the 695 incorporates a hull design which has a fine entry into the water and small wetted surface area, is simply more efficient with its engine power with a range of engines, including low-power.

Jay Pengelly, Sales & Marketing Director, says 'We actually have an 8m powercat being used as a passenger ferry on the Helford River, that is powered by a pair of 25hp engines - which proves the point that you simply don't need big engines to move the boat - you can keep everything - including running costs - down'.

The 695 is also very manoeuvrable (being able to turn in its own length) and has a low wash: Powercat are hoping the 695 will find a market with harbour authorities as well as with commercial fishermen, divers, and as safety and patrol vessels - all who need that extra stability that the twin hull provides.
