New Mark 2 Griffon Takes Off at seawork
01 May 2004
This craft will be the first Griffon hovercraft with separate lift and thrust engines. A 5-6 seat open diesel-engined hovercraft, it is ideally suited to police work, search and rescue, survey and paramilitary operations. It will traverse areas which are difficult or impossible for conventional boat operations i.e. shallows, mud flats, sand banks, ice, rocks, weed, debris and rapids.
GHL recently supplied a 450TD to a private operator who is re-tracing an old explorer’s route from the east coast to the west coast of the USA. There are now four of these craft in service with the RNLI.
GHL is currently building four 20 seat craft for a navy and the second 80 seat Griffon 8000TD for the Korean Marine Police.
