News about Seawork 2004

Media Mission Will Spearhead Export Drive

Arrangements are being concluded with the British Marine Federation, with funding from Trade Partners UK, to fly in a dozen journalists from specialist titles published in markets stretching from Norway through Europe to Greece and the Mediterranean.

This is a follow up to the successful Mission in 2001, which provided columns of editorial coverage for British exhibitors.

The format in 2004 shows a number of developments and opportunities. The contingent of commercial marine journalists will be part of a larger group representing consumer boating titles. The group will arrive on Sunday 20 June and the following day will be devoted to visiting British manufacturing companies within easy reach of Southampton which have new products, processes and services to present during on-site visits.

The journalists will choose from a ‘menu’ which will provide the ‘host’ companies with the opportunity to present and demonstrate their wares face-to-face to a small group of influential visitors.

The journalists will visit seawork2004 on Tuesday, making the most of the opportunity to view the exhibition at their leisure, visiting stands of interest, reviewing the Innovations Showcase and experiencing demonstrations aboard the wide variety of craft on the pontoons.

The Press Office will prepare special ‘Storyleads’ to enable the journalists to identify those exhibitors who have new products or news of interesting applications relevant to their particular readership.

The visit will conclude with the journalists joining exhibitors and their guests at The Gala Dinner, before leaving on Wednesday morning. Many exhibitors will want to contribute to and take advantage of this valuable opportunity. Those companies wishing to be considered to be included on the BMF itinerary for the Media Mission should contact Jane Wilson at seawork 2004. Remember: journalists are interested in what is NEW.
