Civil Regard For Tuesday’s Conference
01 Feb 2004
Mackaoui Communications are organising an all day conference on Tuesday 22 June. It will be chaired by Alastair Stirling, retired Senior Partner of Posford Haskoning, and Antony Oliver, editor of New Civil Engineer.
Based on last year’s experience, the conference also promises to be a major networking event for anyone associated with commercial and environmental marine concerns, urban waterfront regeneration, coastal engineering solutions and renewable energy fields.
The audience will include local authority executives, engineers, developers and environmentalists. The whole day programme will comprise 10 papers presented by top authorities in their respective fields.
As a foretaste of the programme and the quality of the presentation, here’s a selection of the papers:
• European City of Culture – Mersey Waterfront
• Waterfront Engineering Solutions
• Overseas View of Waterside Tourism Developments
• Planning for Offshore Renewables
This will be an outstanding opportunity to update on a whole range of projects and technologies which will be far reaching in their effect for the industry and every European maritime nation. The case highlighted the significance of a ship owner’s right to limit its liability. The basis for limitation will be explained and discussed by representatives from Everards and Lester Aldridge. Thursday’s conference programme will feature a not-to-be-missed presentation by the MCA explaining the new Harmonised Codes of Practice being introduced this year. This is believed to the first and, perhaps, the only opportunity, to hear first hand about the far reaching effects of the latest legislation and its implications for the industry.
In keeping with the seawork tradition, the Thursday conference will feature the MOD’s Small Craft Procurement Requirements.
