Seawork Grows Into a Second Decade

With its record of year on year growth since the first exhibition in 1998, Seawork International is planning for further expansion in 2008. The conference suites will be moved beyond a dividing wall, ensuring a quieter environment and more relaxed atmosphere. This will also overcome the distracting hum of business activity, which can intrude on conference proceedings. Nearby, a third catering point and bar is being added to serve the southern end of the exhibition hall.

Marine South East Provides Industry Support

For the first time at Seawork 2007, Marine South Business Support were joined by Marine South East, UK Trade and Investment, Business Link, MEMSP, the University of Southampton and Marine CoVE. The aim of the collaboration was to provide exhibitors and visitors with advice on development strategies, marketing, packaging and export.

Graham Wickham of Penguin Engineering commented: ‘For a small company like ours it is sometimes difficult to know who to contact and where to start. I got some really useful, impartial advice with significant long term benefits. We are now able to develop our products and have instigated an export strategy’.

UKHMA returns for 11th year

The UK Harbour Masters’ Association has held its Annual General Meeting at Seawork since 1998. The Harbour Masters are an important visitor group for most Seawork exhibitors with up to 100 attending the event each year. Having dealt with AGM business on Wednesday morning, the Harbour Masters are free to walk the exhibition, looking at new products and vessels. Since they make the purchasing decisions for the ports and harbours they represent, it is no surprise that exhibitors are keen to do business with them.
