Redfinn has been appointed European distributors for the vast range of high speed aluminium landing craft built in Washington USA by Munson Boats. Munson is only a few miles down the road from Osprey and Seasport Boats, which Redfinn has represented for 15 years.

Munson Boats builds welded aluminium landing craft in Packman (deep 'V' monohull) and Packcat (catamaran) ranges in 42 standard sizes from 21' to 52' in length, with over 300 standard outfitting options.

Redfinn Boats will be bringing a 26' Packman to Seawork 2008. The Packman range was developed by Munson to provide an alternative to traditional flat bottom landing craft. The deep 'V' monohull and wide forward chines gives this range a stable, comfortable ride in rough seas. Indeed, the Packman was specifically designed to support weight forward cargo in rough water operations, with the 33(DEGREE) fore foot deadrise slicing through heavy chop.

Back in America, Munson Boats has recently delivered the 34’ 'FRV Protector' to Clean Rivers Cooperative in Portland, Oregon. Built to transport 1,000 feet of 8”x12” containment boom and sorbents, the high speed landing craft will engage in beach and river cleanups, and participate in the events of local emergency management organizations. Purchased jointly with resources from the Maritime Fire & Safety Association (MFSA), the boat will provide quick and efficient oil spill response capability for facilities, ships and tank barges on the Columbia and Willamette Rivers.

Twin Honda 225 HP four stroke outboard motors provide a 41 mph top speed. Additional outfitting includes a 4” pipe tow post, 4” D rubber push knees, 2” pipe boom roller, Raymarine E-120 radar/plotter/sounder, 200 gallon fuel system, enclosed wheelhouse with seating for six and Toyotomi NS-2800 forced air cabin heater.

'Our decision to purchase a Munson was based on their reputation, facility, pricing and experience operating another model of theirs, said Tim Archer, general manager for Clean Rivers. 'Clean Rivers operates along the Columbia River system and we have the need for a fast vessel that can operate in a large river, shallow waters and have the ability to land personnel and equipment during response and training. We also operate inside near the Columbia River bar and needed a boat that can handle the rough conditions that can occur in that area. The real advantages are handling, durability, load capacity, and the ability to operate in varied conditions.'
