Durapipe, Salt of the Earth
01 Jun 2008
The water company has specified Durapipe pipework and valves for carrying seawater, fresh water and cleaning water within its systems throughout the decontamination process - called reverse osmosis - which works by forcing liquid through a membrane at high pressure, leaving salt and other unwanted particles behind.
The company makes bespoke systems to be used in a range of situations and for a variety of clients, from Royal Navy vessels, to oil rigs, to cruise ships. The company recently built two units to supply 120,000 litres of fresh water every day for Ascension Island in the South Atlantic.
