New for 2006 – Shipbuilders’ and Ship Repairers’ Pavilion

Seawork’s new Ship Building and Ship Repair Pavilion, supported by the Ship Builders and Ship  Repairers Association, has attracted exhibitors from all parts of the British Isles.

From the Humber alone, over 40 companies are represented by Team Humber Maritime Alliance, which, individually and in co-operation, can offer the full spectrum of skills and technology demanded by today’s owners and operators.

In the north east, Pallion Engineering is a beacon of modern build and refurbishment efficiency, with a fully undercover yard and the capability of working in steel, aluminium and the full span of modern materials and equipment.

Buckie Shipyard on the Moray Firth has an outstanding portfolio of facilities with some 70 craftsmen working on all types of vessels up to 850 tons, in steel, aluminium, GRP and timber. “A fully covered facility for up to 22m x 9m and refit facility with a controlled atmosphere are indicative of the yard’s capabilities,” states Lewis Duthie. Seawind Barclay Curle, based on the Torridge Estuary in North Devon, have an established client base, including the RNLI and the MoD. Currently  awaiting a final decision on an overseas design and build contract for three tugs (20m LOA, 6m beam, 2.4m draft) and six barges, Seawind Barclay Curle are looking confidently to the future, planning a 60% expansion to the existing 900m2covered workshop.

As well as offering specialist design, build and repair services, the company is also at the forefront of technology development and will be displaying their new Low Motion Buoy Radar System at Seawork. The prototype is currently on test in Milford Haven.
