There was a brand new Dive Tank on the quayside for demonstration of underwater equipment. This was supplied by Searchwise Ltd and provided an excellent way for potential buyers to see new equipment being tested and demonstrated in a ‘real’ working environment.

The Dive Tank was also the location for the ADC Commercial Diver Time Trials, which were  new for 2006. Eight divers competed for the trophy, which involved completing a series of tasks underwater within a specified time.

In a closely fought event, James Burns of Caerphilly, won the ADC Challenge for completing his task in 9 minutes 45 seconds. James, of Edwards Diving Services, said he was surprised and delighted to receive the handsome trophy from Roger O’Kane, Secretary of the Association of Diving Contractors.

The activity in the Dive Tank was transmitted continuously onto a large screen on the ADC stand.

This included demonstrations of the oldest diving equipment in existence from the Historical Diving Society.
