Bigger, Better, Busier Than Ever

At the end of the eighth annual Seawork Exhibition and Conference, there was agreement between exhibitors and visitors alike that the event has moved into a position where it is the leading commercial marine exhibition on this side of the Atlantic. One exhibitor alone, VT Halmatic, sold six vessels at Seawork 2005 International with a total market value in excess of £5 million.
All the significant figures were up – stand numbers, exhibitors, vessels afloat and, above all, visitors; international inputs were significantly ahead in both exhibitors and attendees.
“For the three days of Seawork, our European customer base knows precisely where to find us – in Southampton”, says Casper Vermeulen, of Damen Shipyards.
Not surprisingly, the purchasing power of visitors was significant with 87% responsible for authorising or influencing purchasing decisions and 87% visiting specifically to see new products, vessels and innovations. 75% of visitors to Seawork 2005 International intend to return to Europe’s most significant commercial maritime exhibition in 2006.
