Seawork Sets New Records

Record numbers of visitors and exhibitors attended seawork2004 including those from the USA, Australasia, the Middle East, North Africa and Europe. Despite June’s unseasonable gale force winds and rain, this was a clear demonstration that the commercial maritime exhibition and conference held in the Port of Southampton is strengthening its position in the world market.

Exhibition Manager, Jane Wilson, commented at the close of Seawork2004: ‘It became apparent early on in the three day exhibition that, not only were record numbers of visitors going to be achieved, but also that the calibre of visitor was higher than ever. Analysis of those who visited has proved that the vast majority of those coming to the show are in a position of purchasingpower – 87%, in fact.

The addition of RibWork and DiveWork – which involved 20% of all exhibitors – offered visitors a welcome fast-track route to relevant stands and there’s no doubt that more business than ever before was done at the show.

‘Although the Dive Pavilion was a new addition to seawork this year, 11% of all visitors indicated that their main area of interest was Commercial Diving and dive-related products.’
