News about Seawork 2004

Annual Event premières New Products

A significant number of Seawork2004 exhibitors selected the event to première new products. Among them was Scania (Great Britain) Ltd. Unveiling Scania’s new 12 litre engine on the quayside, Senior Vice President and Head of Industrial and Marine Engines at Scania, Lennart Hjelte commented: ‘We started planning the launch of our new engine around Seawork about two years ago. It’s the natural place for us to unveil it because the UK is a very important market for our commercial engines and our UK customers are all here.’

Trevor Banting of Pepe Boats, who brought two vessels to Seawork2004 and took over £300,000 worth of orders, reckons the event was the cat’s whiskers: ‘We were looking for a show to present our new CatFish aluminium catamaran and Seawork was the only show which gave a dedicated audience.’ Pepe Boats sold a 33ft CatFish aluminium catamaran to a charter angling skipper based in Lymington and received a further order for a 36ft CatFish from another charter angling venture based in Poole.

First-time exhibitor, Dominic Palmeri of Dependable Solutions, used Seawork2004 to introduce ‘Soltron’ – an enzyme added to fuel to enable the breakdown and removal of contaminates such as sludge: ‘Soltron has drawn a lot of interest and Seawork provides the opportunity to talk to an impressively wide variety of vessel operators.’ Other product launches included MG Duff’s ‘Zinguard’ – a one component, non-toxic, cold-applied liquid zinc application, delivering the benefits of galvanising and hot zinc spraying or dipping straight out of a can. Rick Simpson of MG Duff reported that ‘the Zinguard launch at Seawork2004 has been beyond expectation’.

Other companies launching new vessels at Seawork2004 included Ali-it Marine, Ally Duck, Alnmaritec, B-W Seacat, Cheetah Marine, Damen Shipyards, Delta Power Services, Griffon Hovercraft, Lyme Boats, Safehaven, Seaboard, South Boats and VT Halmatic.
