Met’s Favourite Returns to Seawork Pontoon Wessex Marine has just delivered the seventh and eighth Targa 31’s for the Marine Support Unit of London’s Metropolitan Police, the Targa 31, with its combination of high speed, walk around format and exceptional flexibility to meet the most demanding of roles, now dominates the fleet. Lights Out for Old Buoys XJF Plastics will be displaying an Eason Marine Class 2 Lightweight buoy at Seawork – a viable alternative to traditional buoys. XJF Plastics Managing Director, Paul Fairhurst states: “The commercial benefits of lightweight buoys are indisputable. Cost savings are massive and performance easily rivals that of steel.” XJF Plastics share the stand with Planet Ocean and Eason Marine in order to display live information from two data buoys. The first will send live data back to the stand from the water, where it will be positioned at the centre of a Versadock pontoon. The second will display real-time wind, wave, temperature and current information via satellite from a buoy in the North Sea.
MST – a site to see Marine Specialised Technology (MST), the commercial rigid inflatable and high speed workboat builder, has had an unprecedented year of growth, including doubling the size of its waterfront manufacturing facility in Liverpool. Their stand at Seawork has grown too – by an extra 9 metres. Recent deliveries include twin inboard diesel 9m Airport Crash Rescue Tenders for a major European airport and a 10m twin inboard diesel jet, enclosedwheelhouse craft for Coastguards in the Americas.
Underwater Engineering from Seabed to Seawork A new offshore wind farm will soon be operational on Burbo Bank at the entrance to the River Mersey, comprising 25 wind turbines capable of producing up to 3.6MW of electricity each. Work began in May 2006 and a diving team from Osiris Underwater Engineering Services was deployed to lay pipes and cables between manopiles before the turbines were installed. Working at water depths to 18m, the five man Osiris team spent six months using jetting and airlift systems to liquefy sand on the Liverpool Bay seabed. Osiris are on stand D12 within the DiveWork Pavilion.
Hydrosphere will present the latest developments and innovations in navigational lights from Vega and Carmanah plus updated buoys including the Mobilis Jet 2000. A Vega LED sector light model VLS46 will be on display. This leading sector light can be configured with a very narrow central white sector of only 0.6°. Other new products will include a lock entrance light system and a monitoring system from Vega.
Seawork 2007 will see the launch of Zeework Ltd, a new joint venture company formed by the UK’s three main Trimble agents to service the Hydrogeomatic equipment markets throughout the UK and ROI. The new range of Trimble precision GPS products will be on the stand; Kongsberg will be presenting their A400SP splashproof portable single beam echo sounder and Ohmex will be releasing their new TideM8 miniature Tide Gauge and solid state weather sensor. Atlantis Launch Sea Gyro Atlantis Marine Power Ltd will be launching the Australian-designed and manufactured Sea Gyro Self-contained Gyroscope for the first time in the UK at Seawork. Sea Gyro dramatically reduces the roll of vessels from 7-50m, making life safer and more comfortable for the crew.
