High Speed Craft Human Factors Engineering Design Guide; improving safety and Performance by enhancing design operations.
Dr Trevor Dobbins initially trained and qualified as a missile test and trials engineer with British Aerospace. Following a period of time with the royal Marines he completed a BSc in Sports Science, a PhD in Exercise Physiology, and worked for the British Cycling Team supporting Olympic Track and Mountain Bike Teams. He subsequently worked for the UK MoD Defence & Evaluation Research Agency / QinetiQ 'Centre for Human Sciences' on a range of human performance projects including maritime operations, diving , and information display / situational awareness issues. Following this he worked for the UK MoD as a Human Factors Science Advisory before establishing a consultancy specialising in human performance and protection for personnel working in demanding environments, with a primary focus on high-speed craft operations. current high-speed craft projects include:
-
Research into fatigue and injury reduction
-
Development of health surveillance specifically for high speed craft operators
-
Human factors input to the specification and design of high-speed craft
-
Production of a Human Factors Engineering Design Guide to support designers, manufacturers, operators and procurement agencies.
Other projects include support to the motor sport and fast-jet pilot communities on issues of vehicle design and operator fatigue and injury.
